the marking period is OVER!!!

i just finished grading 94 essays! well, i graded them on wednesday, thursday, friday, and this morning (saturday). that is really, really crazy. and my kids did a good job--i feel like this essay was more about teaching and my students learning, and less about me spinning my wheels and wondering if they got it. i am pretty excited. my strategic kids did a really good job, too!

so the 8th grade marking period is over. all work is graded (i graded like a crazy woman last weekend, too), and all i have to do is calculate grades. i can't believe we really made it. i'm leaving in about 45 minutes to go spend the day planning for next year with some of my (favorite) grade level colleagues from another school. basically, the year is about over. i do have to teach my 7th graders next week but there is district testing that will take at least one day, and then i have the 8th grade picnic one day also. the 8th graders next week have a picnic, promotion rehearsals, and awards assembly. the week after that i don't think they are coming to school. there is a dinner dance and then promotion, both of which are reasons to stay home from school and get ready.

i have to go, enter the last essay grades, and print out my grades so i can calculate them in the g to the rass v to the alley.
